Ready or not… HERE WE COME!
Now that you know where to go to schedule a pick-up, we can explain the actual pick-up process in a little more detail. We are always excited to have new consignment in our stores. So with a few pointers, we will make this process as easy and quick as possible.
The Pick-Up Process
Things to consider before the truck arrives…
Our pick-up truck will consist of at least two experienced drivers. They pick up consignment on a daily basis and know exactly what kind of furniture is accepted at Colleen’s. Our drivers DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY FURNITURE that does not meet Colleen’s standards.
Here’s what you should watch out for:
- Make sure the furniture is CLEAN. The drivers will not pick up any DUSTY, DIRTY, SMELLY, or STAINED furniture!
- Make sure ALL of the pieces are there. This includes: SHELVES, POWER CORDS, HARDWARE, etc. Any pieces that are MISSING from your furniture will make your consignment DECLINE IN VALUE or NOT BE PICKED UP at all.
- We will NEVER accept BROKEN furniture!!!
Understanding the Paperwork
Filling out the consignment contract is really easy. Once the drivers have finished checking your furniture to make sure it meets the requirements, they begin to label all of the pieces identified with the furniture. Once all of the furniture is inventoried, you will receive a copy of the contract. Here is what the contract will look like:
A) CONSIGNOR INFORMATION – This is where you will find your contract number. This will be your reference number if you have any questions about your consignment items. This section also includes all the CURRENT information, including the MAILING ADDRESS.
P.S. – Make sure, if you are moving to a new house, that you use that NEW ADDRESS. Your CONSIGNMENT CHECK will be delivered to this address.
B) ITEM DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION – This section lists the all furniture that is to be consigned. If any pieces are MISSING or DAMAGED, they will be noted here. If there are any special notes that you wish to include, this would be the section to make such comments. PRICES will not be discussed until is brought back to the store and examined by a CONSIGNMENT SPECIALIST.
C) CONTRACT DETAILS – This section includes all of the details of conditions of the contract. Our consignment specialists have already informed you on important information like DISCOUNT DATES, PAYMENT PERCENTAGE, and TERMINATION CONDITIONS. Refer to this section if you need a reminder on any consignment details.
Let’s Wrap it Up!
We’ll take care of it now…
Once the furniture is on our trucks, the drivers ensure it’s safety by wrapping each item with a PACKING BLANKET and securing it with the proper FURNITURE STRAPS.
The next step for you is to wait for our phone call. When your furniture arrives at the store, one of our consignment specialists will examine each piece thoroughly. Once this step is complete, you will RECEIVE A PHONE CALL to discuss pricing.
